Enhancing The Environment Through Research
About
The National Turfgrass Evaluation Program
NTEP® is a cooperative effort between the non-profit National Turfgrass Evaluation Program, Inc., and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
It is a widely-known turfgrass research program that evaluates 17 turfgrass species across 40 U.S. states and 6 Canadian provinces. NTEP® collects and summarizes data on turfgrass quality, color, density, disease/insect resistance, and tolerance to environmental stresses.
This information is used by breeders, researchers, extension personnel, government entities, growers, and consumers in over 30 countries to identify improved, environmentally-sound turfgrasses. NTEP® has become the standard for turfgrass evaluation worldwide.

Comprehensive Turfgrass Data and Reporting
The National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP®) provides comprehensive, up-to-date data on the performance of over 17 turfgrass species and cultivars across the U.S. and Canada. Through our extensive national testing network, we gather detailed information on turfgrass quality, color, density, disease/pest resistance, and environmental stress tolerance, which is meticulously compiled in annual reports available on our website. Users can easily access the latest NTEP® data broken down by state or region, as well as utilize interactive tools to compare cultivar performance. By making this robust dataset freely accessible, NTEP® empowers turfgrass professionals, researchers, and consumers to make informed decisions when selecting, breeding, or specifying the most suitable and sustainable turfgrass varieties.
